Clinical Vignettes

The Clinical Vignettes category of the Society of Hospital Medicine’s (SHM’s) Research, Innovations and Clinical Vignettes (RIV) poster competition features posters reporting on one or more cases that illustrate a new disease entity or prominent or unusual clinical feature of an established disease, or highlight an area of clinical controversy in hospital medicine or a unique patient safety issue. The Clinical Vignettes are also permitted to include a summary of pertinent patient history, physical findings, laboratory data or a management description.

A total of 491 Clinical Vignettes posters were submitted this year, of which 369 were accepted and 45 chosen as finalists. Clinical Vignettes are judged on originality, organization, writing ability and relevance to hospital medicine. A winner is chosen in the adult category and in the pediatrics category.
